• take note of basic shapes in the face/body
• face shape fits character personality
• body type fits habits/personality
• take note of body language/posture
• using hands for expression and to direct the reader’s eye
• take note of how characters’ interactions with others vary

-clothes design-

• clothes convey information about character
• simple design
• take note of color and contrast
• take note of what mood the colors imply
• be consistent in design details/repetitions
• take note of what the character wishes to convey with their clothes/actions
• clothes fit the job description/personality/environment
• more environments = more versatile clothes

-general-

• elaborate visuals are not the same as effective visuals
• employ “pauses” to help pacing
• say everything you can with the art first, then add the dialog
• the medium is the message
• establish a clear sequence of visual(s…?)
• have clearly defined points and directional relevance

-other-

• be more well-rounded
• get out of your comfort zone
• experiment more
• take note of moods for story prompts

A list we (Kira and I) came up after reading Dresdencodak’s posts on comics. The last part is more of a personal note for us.
Anyways, this list is more of a starting point of ‘things to consider’ rather than rules, so don’t get too caught up in trying to check everything off.
